We are making some significant progress on the data migration portion of the Office 365 project. I ran a large batch of user migrations overnight. The batches have completed and there are now 65 users migrated to Office 365. With 15 users left it is likely that the data transfer portion of the move will be completed today.
At the end of the first day of migrations we are moving along well. We are more than half way migrated which is good. This does not mean that we are half way to completion for a number of reasons.
1. We have a number of migratiosn that have failed. These will need to be fixed and these last migrations will take longer than the "low hanging fruit" that complete first
2. We need to do a number of additional tasks when the migrations complete
At the current time I would say that we are on schedule and possibly a little ahead of schedule.
Data migration has started in batches. A mapping issue with santech addresses was found in the first batches which caused a failure for 5 migrated users. The mapping has been fixed for these users and that are being rescheduled after their batches are completed.
A pre-deployment backup of the mail server has completed and the server is now back up and running. the first migration batch is now running and 5 users are currently moving. We will use this batch along with the next few to estimate the speed of the migrations. More to come on that when we can make some estimates.
